Date Rape…

…Is a crime to say the least.

It destroys the spirit of a person let alone the emotional and psychological damage that affects the life of a person if not dealt with. Statistics show that 1 out every 4 women have either been a victim of date rape or attempted to in that fashion. I only could pray that more women and men wake up and become conscious of what’s going on around you…for real. The Gossip Corner presents true stories of not only these types of situations, but many true stories that have found their way onto my desktop. The names have been changed of course to protect the victims that have already suffered embarrassing moments, betrayal, and the ruin of their reputations behind such circumstances. The writers’ opinion

As human beings, we experience some of the most beautiful moments that life has to offer us and encounter many situations that we believe could never be possible for us in a lifetime. Believe me I’ve experienced them; however, there are those moments that seem to creep up unexpectedly in times we aren’t prepared for and they appear to be our worst fear and nightmares. We are left in those moments asking the big question… “Why me?” Those are the ugly moments we can’t seem to get over or in other words we can’t make sense out of. But we fail to embrace some of these moments as opportunities to grow and learn from the choices we make. Everything has a cause and effect, but nothing is a coincidence or bad or good luck. Remember what our Lord Jesus Christ said: “You reap what you sow and if  you sew a good seed you produce good fruit, but if you sow bad seeds you reap bad fruit.” These are words of wisdom that calls out to the men and women in the world to understand but we fail to listen to wisdom call. The only thing that brought me comfort in such moments as these, was the mere fact that I began to see that I wasn’t alone experiencing situations like mine and I had no reason to be ashamed of learning more of what life was like in the real world or what life had to offer me. That there were others suffering as well. One thing is for certain, that as long as you are human, situations will seek you out whether they are caused by you or the actions of others. I’ve seen that no matter how good we try to be or bad (if there is such a thing), none of us are above being tried and tested and sometimes by fire. The good thing is that these experiences can shape and mold our character and teach us a lesson about life and others to change and redirect the course of our lives forever, preferably for the good. Then again, I guess that depends on how we accept the situations that present themselves in the first place. As for me, I’m a slow learner and sometimes I have to repeat that same thing over and over again before I realize its true meaning for my life. Maybe it’s the same for you. But hey, what do I know? It’s only my opinion.

“Date Rape”

The lifeline machine beeped slowly as 17-year-old Sheila Garcia lay in the hospital bed unconscious with I.V. needles running in her arms and tubs coming from her mouth. Even in her unconscious state, she could recall the events of the night playing over in her mind causing her eyelids to flicker as if she was dreaming. She could remember laying on the cold ground face down with one of the guys holding her tightly behind her neck so she couldn’t move. Another stood in a distance begging the other two to stop before someone came and saw what they were doing. She could feel the hard jerk of her underwear being torn from her body as the tears began to roll from her eyes. “Please don’t… please” She cried out. “Shut your mouth or you won’t walk out of here alive.” The voice said as he spread open her legs scraping her knees on the gravel and broken glass in the forest. Her body was limp and she had no strength to fight back or move away. “What did they give me?” She asked herself as her eyes slowly blinked. Drinking never made her feel this way so there had to be something they mixed in her drink to make her feel this way. She cried out as she felt the ripping surge of pain between her legs. “I told her over and over don’t talk to those guys, Sheila you don’t know them, because they weren’t from here. She wouldn’t listen to me at all. She was really drunk and wanted to go with them and told me to mind my own business.” Debbie explained to Sheila’s parents standing in the emergency room of the hospital. She could see the punches being delivered to her face, but because of the alcohol and drugs, she couldn’t feel a thing or see their faces clearly. Her head dropped to the ground upon a stone rock opening up a wound behind her head. “Stop, please. I won’t tell I promise.” She whispered as her eyes rolled toward the back of her head… to be continued.
