What’s the difference?
What does it mean to be an “Over-talker” anyway? In my opinion, an over talker is someone that gives more than enough information than people are asking to hear. For example, someone can make a comment like; Anna: “Did you hear about Bobby and Karen splitting up the other day?” Brenda: “Yeah, I kind of did. That’s too bad. They were good together.” Anna: “It was best for her because I heard… (here comes the b.s) …he was drunk all the time and fooling around on her…bla…bla…bla…, way too much information. Even if it was true, somewhere down the line the truth got twisted and it’s none of Anna’s business to talk about it to another. Whereas “Gossip”, is just merely running your mouth without factual basis or premise that would validate what you’re gossiping about. So, now let’s address the questions at hand:
- What does God think about it?
Romans 16:17-18; I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naïve.
James 4: 11-12; Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?
